El Patron Uwe? Meister der Kokosnuss! Atom Heart, Señor Coconut, Uwe Schmidt? Ein Mann, drei Produkte. Das klingt nach Kinderüberraschungsei für Erwachsene mit den fünf wertschöpfenden Hauptaussagen: gesund, lecker, spielerisch, spaßig, überraschend. Und das nicht nur erst seit den jüngsten Erfolgen des aktuellen Señor Coconut Sprosses "El Baile Alemán". Denn was Uwe Schmidt als lateinamerikanisch, folkloristische Aufarbeitung minimalistischer Kraftwerksequenzen neu intoniert und jetzt weltweit frenetisch von Presse und Fans gefeiert wird, zeigte sich in den Grundzügen schon 1997 auf seinem Coconut-Erstling "El Gran Baile" auf seinem eigenen Label Rather Interesting, später zu Recht lizensiert auf Towa Tei's Akashi Records bei East West in Japan. Jetzt wieder zum Leben erweckt auf multiColor und erstmals auch auf Vinyl erhältlich! Die Entdeckung Chiles durch den Frankfurter, veränderte seine musikalische Sichtweise. Seine früheren Exkursionen als Atom Heart und Lassigue Bendthaus waren sehr elektronisch, geprägt von der Erforschung von Strukturen und Reinheit des Klangs. Die Zusammenarbeit mit (inter-)nationalen Renomierten wie Bill Laswell, Victor Sol, Tetsu Inoue oder Pete Namlook (Fax-Records) in den Jahren 1994 ? 1997 war maßgeblich im Bereich neuer, deutscher elektronischer Musik. Eine gute Vorbereitung für den nächsten Schritt, den er mit Verlagerung seines Wohnsitzes nach Santiago de Chile vollzog. Geplagt von einer heftigen Grippe ("die Neuronen kochten bei 45°C"), begann er bereits in Deutschland mit der wahnwitzigen Mixtur aus Elektronik und lateinamerikanischen/perkussiven Einflüssen. Angekommen in Südamerika, vollführte sich im Frühjahr 1997 die vollständige Verpuppung des Grand Seneurs in Richtung der Wärme, die er drei Jahre später allerorten versprüht. Grund genug seinen Erstling aus der Vergessenheit und Retorte zu holen und die Welt daran teilhaben zu lassen. Während "El Baile Alemán" eine Studie der Kraftwerkklassiker im Coconutformat ist, geht "Gran Baile" ein Stück weiter. Ohne originäre Vorgaben ist er seiner Zeit bereits weit voraus und tobt sich auf seinen zwölf Eigenkompositionen richtig aus und zeigt die Vielfalt seiner Ideen auf. Patron Uwe, Meister der Kokosnuss. Seine Musik schmilzt nicht in der Hand, sondern zergeht auf der Zunge und wuchert im Kopf. Eben multiColor. El Patron Uwe? Master of the coconut! Atom Heart, Señor Coconut, Uwe Schmidt - one man, three products. That sounds like a child's surprise egg for adults with the five value-adding characteristics: healthy, delicious, playful, fun and surprising. And that is true not just since of the latest Señor Coconut success, "ElBaile Alemán". Because what Uwe Schmidt newly intones as a Latin American, folkloric arrangement of sequences from Kraftwerk, and which is now frantically praised by the press and fans from around the world, already revealed itself in rudimentary form in the first Coconut release, "El Gran Baile" , released on his own Rather Interesting label in 1997 and later licensed to Towa Tei's Akashi Records, which is distributed by East West in Japan. Now revived on multiColor and available on vinyl for the very first time! Discovering Chile changed the Frankfurt resident's way of musical thinking. His earlier excursions as Atom Heart and LassiqueBendthaus were very electronic, influenced by researching structures and the purity of sound. The cooperative efforts with such internationally renowned musicians as Bill Laswell, Victor Sol, Tetsu Inoue or Pete Namlook (Fax Records) from 1994 to 1997 were for the most part in the genre new German electronica. This was good preparation for the next step, which he took by moving to Santiago de Chile. Plagued by a bad case of the flu ("the neurons were boiling at 45° C") and still in Germany he began working on this reckless mixture of electronica and Latin American / percussion influences. Having arrived in South America the complete pupation of the Grand Seneurs took place in the Spring of 1997 in the direction of the warmth, which he spreads everywhere three years later. Reason enough to revive his first release and let the world hear it. While "El Baile Alemán" is a study of the Kraftwerk classic, "Gran Baile" goes even further. Without any original models he is already ahead of his time, really getting down on his twelve compositions and displaying the diversity of his ideas. Patron Uwe, master of the coconut. His work doesn't melt in your hands but on your tongue and grows luxuriously in your head. Exactly - multiColor.
