An experimental album using top Los Angeles session musicians, Roger and Jack Joseph Puig produced Hai Hai. Roger was not happy with the album artistically and it took 16 months to record. A week after Hai Hai was released, Roger fell and broke both his wrists. He entered a period of physical and emotional recovery that would not be complete until Rites of Passage.
