Manchmal kann das fünfte Rad am Wagen für die entscheidenden Kilometer von enormer Bedeutung sein. Bei der vierköpfigen Rockband Sunrise Avenue aus Helsinki hat der Produzent Jukka Backlund jedenfalls Wunder bewirkt. Die finnische Band um den Sänger und Gitarristen Samu Haber offenbart auf ihrem Debütalbum „On The Way To Wonderland“, das es gerade direkt in Finnlands Album Top 5 geschafft hat, einen Instinkt für prächtige Refrains und mitreißende Melodien. Dass die Songs wie aus einem Guss wirken, daran hat auch Produzent Jukka Backlund maßgeblichen Anteil. Er ist so begeistert von Sunrise Avenue, dass er nicht nur gelegentlich als Co-Autor fungiert, sondern als Keyboarder auch mit der Band auf Tournee gehen wird. „Fairytale Gone Bad“, erste Single für die exklusiv von EMI Germany unter Vertrag genommene Band, ist der für Sunrise Avenue typische, melodiöse Gitarrenrock mit starkem Pop-Appeal. In dieser Form werden Sunrise Avenue spielend leicht auf die Überholspur zum internationalen Erfolg einscheren. „Fairytale Gone Bad“ wird übrigens hierzulande in die Berichterstattung zur Tour de France eingebunden. Ein weiterer Schritt, damit die finnischen Newcomer richtig Fahrt aufnehmen können.
