Look out "Killer"! The first thing you hear on "Shakin' The Boogie" is the great Jerry Lee pumping piano style. Then comes the vocal and guitar Al Cook, and a driving M. Pewny solo. Here as with other vocalists Pewny has teamed up with, I feel the real magic and exitement of the voice is lost somehow in the recording. The characteristic right hand teasing and relentless left hand engine-like power (with usual perfect support from Strasser on drums) show up on solo numbers like "Downtown In Jazzland" –Vintage Pewny and just great! We get some swing numbers a few slower things and a totally awesome live version of "Jumping Vibes Boogie" with Martin Breinschmid on Vibraphon. Nice and loud, this cut can't help but give you chills! I don't understand a word, but I really like the 14th number, "Es geht se Ollas immer aus" with Jan Scheer on vocals and accordion –a good number for the U.S. boogie fans to hear! Great harp work by Stephan Rausch as "Twenty Reeds Boogie"" pleasantly cooks along on. Magic Michael Pewny fans will love "Movin' To Chicago".
