Busch Stadium, St. Louis, Mo. - July 6, 2008

History was made on June 7, 2008, as Dave Matthews Band became the first artist to perform a concert at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, MO. DMB rocked the Major League stadium that night, performing in center field in front of close to 35,000 fans. Highlights of the show include 'Pay For What You Ge' and the rarity 'Recently / Water into Wine' jam which had not been played in over ten years. Other songs of note include a superb performance of 'Crush' and covers of Neil Young's 'Hey Hey, My My (Into the Black)' and Sly and the Family Stone's 'Thank You (Falletin Me Be Mice Elf Again)'! All DMB albums were represented at the Busch Stadium show plus Dave Matthews' Some Devil release!

Vol. 13 in the Dave Matthews Band Live Trax series was recorded at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, MO, in June of 2008. The band was joined by guests Tim Reynolds on guitar and Rashawn Ross on trumpet, and performed material ranging from old standards like "Ants Marching" and "Tripping Billies" to new cuts such as "Cornbread," "Louisiana Bayou," and "#27." As has been the norm, there are a couple of choice covers included: Neil Young's "Hey Hey, My My (Into the Black)" and the now ubiquitous reading of Sly Stone's classic "Thank You (Falettin Me Be Mice Elf Agin)." Matthews writes good songs, but the jams get very predictable, very quickly. The bottom line is, if you are a DMB fanatic, you'll need this; if not, there is little here to convince you that you need to be.

Vol. 13 in the Dave Matthews Band Live Trax series was recorded at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, MO, in June of 2008. The band was joined by guests Tim Reynolds on guitar and Rashawn Ross on trumpet, and performed material ranging from old - and tired - standards like "Ants Marching" (the single most self-indulgent track in the history of the DMB) and "Tripping Billies" to new cuts such as "Cornbread," "Louisiana Bayou," and "#27." As has been the norm, there are a couple of choice covers included: Neil Young's "Hey Hey, My My (Into the Black)" and the now ubiquitous and utterly limp reading of Sly Stone's classic "Thank You (Falettin Me Be Mice Elf Agin)." What has really become evident through the countless official live albums of Matthews is that these cats are not all that different night to night, and far from innovative musicians. Matthews writes some good songs, but the jams get very predictable, very quickly. They resonate with younger people for several reasons: the pleasant blend of acoustic and electric instruments, the faux funk hijinks in the live versions of these compositions, and melodies that are easy to appreciate - the first 25 times. The bottom line is, if you are a DMB fanatic, you'll need this; if not, there is little here to convince you that you need to be. If anything it feels more and more -- as a look at the sheer collectible hucksterism of the official website makes plain -- like the DMB are more a marketing concern for stuff than about being a band that makes compelling, let alone inspiring, music.

Dave Matthews Band's latest volume in the Live Trax series is a 2-CD release chosen from the outset of the 2008 summer tour. Dave Matthews Band made history on June 7, 2008 when they became the first artist to perform a concert at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, MO, performing center field in front of close to 35,000 fans. Highlights of the show include "Pay For What You Get" and the rarity "Recently > Water Into Wine" jam which had not been played live in over ten years. Other songs of note include a superb performance of "Crush" and covers of Neil Young's "Hey, Hey, My My (Into the Black)" and Sly and the Family Stone's "Thank You (Falletin Me Be Mice Elf Agin)".

A historic recording that documents the first time a music act performed at Busch Stadium in St. Louis (home of Major League Baseball`s Cardinals franchise), LIVE TRAX VOL. 13 showcases the Dave Matthews Band bringing the jam band party to the people in grand style. In addition to crowd favorites "Crush" and the soulful "Everyday," the group delivers an unexpectedly heavy version of Neil Young`s "Hey Hey (Into The Black)" (which clearly displays Matthews`s vocal debt to Young) and the rarely-performed "Recently/Water Into Wine." Of course, several songs are given the extended jam treatment ("Tripping Billies" is a highlight), driving the crowd into heights of groove ecstacy.
