Howling Bells

 B i o g r a p h y

Howling Bells are an Indie rock band formed in Sydney, Australia in late 2004. The band moved to England soon after to record their debut album which they released in 2006 on Bella Union and produced by Ken Nelson (Coldplay). It received much critical acclaim including a 9/10 in NME and 7.8/10 from Pitchfork. They spent much of the next 2 years touring Europe, Australia and parts of the US. Howling Bells played at the 2007 NME Awards show. They also performed at numerous festivals over the 2006 English summer including Reading/Leeds. They have supported US band The Killers and Placebo around Europe, as well as Snow Patrol on their Australian tour. They recently signed a deal with the London-based Independiente label and completed their 2nd album, Radio Wars, with Dan Grech-Marguerat, who has engineered records alongside producer Nigel Godrich, including Radiohead, Air and Paul McCartney.

Dark country & western rock group Howling Bells is Juanita Stein (vocals, guitar), Joel Stein (guitars), Brendan Picchio (bass) and Glenn Moule (drums). Formed in 2005 after a prior incarnation named Waikiki, the members moved their homebase from Sydney to London. Their self-titled debut was recorded in May 2006 by Ken Nelson (Coldplay) and distributed by Bella Union. Bands of note that Howling Bells has supported on tour include the Futureheads, Placebo, the Killers and Snow Patrol.
