Michael Cretu (*born 18th May 1957 in Bucharest, Rumania) came to Germany at the beginning of the 1970s and began a study in classical music in Frankfurt, what he finished with an examen. During that period he played in several groups to earn money for his study. He got to know Frank Farian an worked in 1979 for Boney M. "Oceans Of Fantasy" and Cherry Laine "I´m hot". The same year he had the chance to show his talent in producing for Dave Meany´ s "That´s All". In 1980 he went to Munich where he produced Peter Cornelius´ albums "Der Kaffee Ist Fertig" (1980), "Zwei", "Reif Fuer Die Insel", "Ohne Filter" (1982), "Fata Morgana" (1983) and "Suchtig" (1984). After a long break they met again for a new album in 1992 "Cornelius + Cretu". This time they both composed, wrote and sang the songs. Until 1984 Michael Cretu composed for numerous German acts as Chilly, A La Carte, Precious Wilson, Peter Kent, Che & Ray, Hubert KaH, Juliane Werding and many more... .

After this he concentrated on Sandra, whom he got to know in 1982. In 1988 they married on Ibiza where they are living now and have their own studio there. Apart from his works for other acts, Michael Cretu released also some albums under his own name: "Moon, Light & Flowers" (1979), "Legionare" (1983), "Die Chinesische Mauer" (1985) & "The Invisable Man" (1985).

In 1985 he made also a album with Thissy Thiers, Nils Tuxen and Dicky Tarrach as "Moti Special" called "Motivation".

The biggest succes came with Enigma and the album "MCMXC a.D." (1990), which made him one of the most succesful international stars - the album became No. 1 in 24 countries, 17 times platinum, 25 times gold - and in the USA as well gold.

Michael Cretu is a good producer, singer, music maker, keyboarder and much more. Was discovered by a German producer: Frank Farian. He worked in the recording room as keyboarder. In 1978 released the first single "Wild River" for the German label Polydor. In 1979 the first album called "Moon, Light & Flowers". After this experience Michael continued as producer, with a music kind different from his typical style. In 1983 a contract with the actual record company: Virgin Germany.

The second album was "Legionäre" with German vocals, then it was released in English version: "Legionnaires". The great success arrived in 1985 with a big single "Samurai", followed by an album called "The Invisible Man". The first edition of this album was "Die Chinesische Mauer", sung in German. In the same year Cretu formed a group: Moti Special. Just three singles and an album "Motivation", then the group was dissolved. Cretu prosecuted his solo career and the producer activity. In 1986 was published the single "Gambit", not available on any album. In 1987 Cretu and his friend Thissy Thiers from the Moti Special, recorded "School's Out", a cover by the American rocker Alice Cooper, also this song is not available on album. 1988, by the duo C. & T. was coming out a very beautiful album: "Belle Epoque". With this Cretu finished his solo career, but in 1990 he signed an international project well known as Enigma, where M.C. prosecuted his STRANGE way to realize the music. In 1992 Cretu and a good friend of him, the Austrian musician Peter Cornelius, released the duo album "Cornelius + Cretu", where Cretu is present at 99%. The work was published by the German label Eastwest. Cretu released a new musical project called TRANCE.ATLANTIC.AIR.WAVES in August 1997, the album was coming out on March '98. Actually he's at work for ENIGMA 4.

SAMURAI (DID YOU EVER DREAM?)

If you're lonely you never show a sign
No devotion could ever change your mind
No illusion when your work is done
Nobody knows you
Nobody knows your name
Nobody knows you

Samurai, Samurai
Did you ever dream?
Hesitate, wonder why
At all the anger you have seen?
Samurai, Samurai
Does your blood run cold?
No light shines in your eye
No burning flame in your soul

Your commission was written in the sand
No emotion could ever stay your hand
No consolation
No word of love or praise
Your fight is over
Your enemies are gone
Your fight is over

Samurai, Samurai
Did you ever dream?
Hesitate, wonder why
At all the anger you have seen?
Samurai, Samurai
Does your blood run cold?
No light shines in your eye
No burning flame in your soul

CARTE BLANCHE (RIDE ON WITH THE BREEZE)

Closing a door on the life I have known
Free for the future, 'cause now I'm alone
Carte blanche, carte blanche
Maybe you hurt me, maybe I'm sad
Let me discover what we never had
Carte blanche, carte blanche
Ticket to ride on with the breeze
Carte blanche

Maybe I'm leaving and maybe I'll stay
Maybe tomorrow I'm light-years away
Carte blanche, carte blanche
I need adventure, I venture to guess:
Make me an offer, the answer is yes
Carte blanche, carte blanche
Ticket to ride on with the breeze
Carte blanche

If I'm a rich man, I'm gonna get poor
Nothing to lose, I don't care anymore
Carte blanche, carte blanche
Follow the rainbow,
Jump over the moon
Building a castle right here in my room
Carte blanche, carte blanche
Carte blanche, carte blanche
Ticket to ride on with the breeze
Carte blanche

SILVER WATER

Silver water
Falling out of the sky
Silver water
Make a river so high
Let a killer go under
Kill a devil of hunger

Silver water
Turn to gold in my hand
Silver water
Take a hold on my land
Build a mountain of thunder
I believe in a wonder

YOUR FAVOURITE TOY

Only a game we used to play
Little tin soldiers after school
You had to win and I would say
"Now that I'm dead you've lost your fool"

I can hear you laughing
Wasn't I your favourite toy?

Only a life you threw away
Maybe you always played the game
Did you believe your luck would stay?
Didn't you stand too near the flame?

I can hear you laughing
I was just your favourite toy

I can hear you laughing
Wasn't I your favourite toy?

Only a feeling since you've gone
I'm not alone quite like before
It's a game we played so long
Don't wanna lose it anymore

I can hear you laughing
I am still your favourite toy

HEAVY TRAFFIC

Heavy traffic, highway song
Steely bodies on parade
Heavy traffic, roll along
High performance cavalcade
Heavy traffic, burning rubber
All together, stop and go
Heavy traffic, miss a turning
Interrupt the traffic flow

If I ever get to heaven
I'll be sure to go by train
If I make it home by seven
I'll never drive again

Heavy traffic, stormy weather
Monday morning on the road
Heavy traffic, wait forever
Following an overload
Heavy traffic, never-ending
Spitting poison in the air
Metal river, who's pretending?
You won't ever get me there

If I ever get to heaven
I'll be sure to go by train
If I make it home by seven
I'll never drive again

THE INVISIBLE MAN

How can you be so close to a stranger?
I wonder if he knows you?
Does he care?
Now the loving between us
Is in danger
Tell me how can I ever
Give up all we share?

The invisible man
Waits deep in your heart
And he won't let me in, whatever I do
The invisible man
Waits deep in your heart
And we're never alone
Now he's part of you too

Tell me the reason
Why do you need him?
We say we could never
Tell a lie
And now when I ask you
Is it love you believe in?
You can't find an answer
You don't even try

The invisible man
Waits deep in your heart
And he won't let me in, whatever I do
The invisible man
Waits deep in your heart
And we're never alone
Now he's part of you too
