Blues with a modern twist, the Florida-based Bridget Kelly Band offers an electric blues vibe that blends classic blues with elements of guitar-driven Texas and Memphis blues; featuring Bridget Kelly on vocals and Tim Fik on guitar.

The Bridget Kelly Band is an electric blues band that rocks the house with their unique blend of hot smokin' blues. Their CD “Back in the Blues”, released in March of 2013 (Alpha Sun Records), contained all original blues songs couched in styles that range from Chicago and Memphis blues to Texas Blues. In live shows, the group also performs music of B.B. King, T. Bone Walker, Etta James, and Bonnie Raitt. The band’s original compositions have been featured on WXJZ Smooth Jazz in Gainesville (Q-quincy’s Blues Show) as well as radio shows throughout the U.S., U.K., Ireland, Canada, Italy, Germany, and France. The group performs at a wide variety of music venues - clubs, concerts, and festivals across Florida; and has opened shows and shared the stage with numerous top recording and touring blues artists including Albert Castiglia, Jeff Jensen, Biscuit Miller, Willie Green, Brandon Santini, and Victor Wainwright.

Based out of Gainesville, Florida, the Bridget Kelly Band are active members of the North-Central Florida Blues Society. The band’s music has been regularly featured on Kevin Black's "Women in the Blues“ and "Black on Blues" show (U.K.), Tony T.C. Corner’s “Blues Corner” radio show (U.K.), Best of 2013 CDs: John Hammer’s “Hammered by the Blues” radio show, and the group continues to perform at festivals and live entertainment clubs/venues throughout the Southeast. Recent dates have included performances at Vetfest and Bikefest (at Thunder Music Park, Hampton, FL), St. John's River Blues Festival, Florida's Azalea Festival, The High Dive (Gainesville, FL) with Albert “The Kid” Castiglia, The Dirty Martini Bar (Gainesville, FL), The Thomas Center (Gainesville, FL), Billy's Downtown Blues Bar (Palatka, FL) with Victor Wainwright, Roberts Hall (Lynn Haven, FL), Skipper's Smokehouse (Tampa, FL), Topsail Hill State Park's "Red, White & Blues" Concert (Santa Rosa Beach, FL), Ellie Ray's (Branford, FL), Bradfordville Blues Club (Tallahassee, FL), and Florida's Blue Crab Festival... just to name a few. The Bridget Kelly Band's first release - "Back in the Blues" (2013) was chosen as the North Central Florida Blues Society’s regional entrant into the IBC's Best Independently Produced CD for 2013. Bridget Kelly was also featured in the Women in the Blues Showcase at the IBC in Memphis, closing the show at the fabled Center for Southern Folklore. Bridget Kelly and guitarist Tim Fik were invited to sit in with Brandon Santini and Jeff Jensen and his band at W.C. Handy's Blues Hall (Memphis, TN) the weekend of the IBC (Jan. 2014). While attending the BMA’s (May 2014),Bridget performed at Beale Street’s famous Rum Boogie Night Club, sitting in with Sonny Rock and Tas Cru. The Bridget Kelly Band's new CD "Forever in Blues" was officially release in the summer of 2014, and contains 15 new original songs couched in a modern-day electric blues style than blends elements of classic blues with guitar-driven Texas and Memphis blues.

Chris Manson, music review writer for Beachcomber Magazine, wrote: "Hard to distinguish yourself in the blues genre these days, but this Gainesville four-piece gives it their best shot.. The front-woman at times suggests what Fleetwood Mac might have sounded like had that band continued playing the blues once Stevie Nicks joined the fold,
and Tim Fik’s guitar is appealing throughout." Gary Anton of the Bradfordville Blues Club (Tallahassee, FL) wrote"This four-piece band from the Gainesville area is fronted by vocalist Bridget Kelly and backed up by some pretty hot and tasteful picking by guitarist Tim Fik. Bridget and Tim combine a retro '60's and '80's sound for a unique take on blues-rock. Mike Hamm on bass and Michael Barady round out the rhythm section." Chazz Clooney of Black Fox Productions had this to say: "A rockin' blues band out of the Gainesville, Florida area that you have to see to believe! Having met all of the band members I can honestly say they are a great bunch of people and fine musicians. Bridget Kelly , with her soulful but also raspy and strong vocals belts out the blues like nobody's bi-ness...while master class guitarist Tim Fik rips off blues runs reminiscent of Stevie Ray Vaughn...and all of it held together like glue by the bass playing of Mike Hamm and the skin smackin' of Michael Barady... This band Rocks some Blues!!! This is one band you WANT to see!!!"

I just received the newest release, Forever in Blues, from Bridget Kelly Band. Opening with cool blues number, I'll Be Missin' You, bassist Mike Hamm sets up a cool bass line for Kelly's supple vocals. Tim Fik plays clean and unrelenting guitar riffs throughout. Blues In the Kitchen has a Dire Straits kind of feel with stinging blues guitar riffs. Texas Toast is a perfect set up for guitarist Fik to show his hand displaying Johnny Winter like dexterity at times. A slow loping boogie, this track is one of the cooler tracks on the release. Jazzy feeling I'll Take The Blues lets Kelly sit back in the vocals and sing with ease. Fik throws down some really cool blues riffs keeping it tight with Michael Barady on drums. I Live Alone is a easy paced 12 bar number and Kelly puts out a Bonnie Raitt kind of phrasing. On Take Me Home Blues, written over the basic "Help Me" riff, Kelly and Fik trade the spotlight. Not at all bashful to show his chops, Fik contains his fluid machine gun guitar approach showing a more melodic soloing style. Forever Little Girl is set over a basic blues 12 bar riff and Fik has a cool little riff that he puts in as an accent showing control and taste. Opening the can he lets it all out with some really electric bursts of fire. Title track, Forever in Blues, is a slow ballad along the lines of Gary Moore and working well for a band such as this. Kelly does a nice job of delivering and Fik lays it all out there. Very nice! He Lied To Me is a shuffle track a cool driving bass line. Fleet fingers Fik really tears it up on this one and Kelly rides the wave. Goin' To Memphis has a real nice opening guitar riff with cool double stops and Winter like tones. Another of my favorite tracks on the release, this track swings. Tall Man has a slow, Fool For Your Stockings" approach and Kelly grabs a hold of the track vocally and shakes it. You Left Me Cryin' has a definite R&B feel and a slice of Elvis via Artie Glenn. Nice guitar work by Fik ices a smooth cake. Everyday Without You is a cool slow blues with some time to jam. Rolling in over 7 minutes, gives the band a chance to stretch with a male vocal lead. A really nice bass line from Hamm sets a real nice road for Fik to drive over. His chops are alive and strong. Meaningful blues lines and expressive phrasing is the key to this track. Very nice. Wrapping the release is When The Blues Comes Around,  an uptempo shuffle with crisp guitar work and again male lead vocals. Fik unleashes the dog on this last track and Kelly trades lead vocals as well. This is a cool release without a lot of hot attributes. Check it out if you can.

Forever In Blues is the second album by the Bridget Kelly Band. Florida-based, the band has a full, rich sound with some great guitar playing by Tim Fik clearly to be heard in the mix while Kelly's voice is strong, powerful and full of soul. You sure get your money's worth with this one. Fifteen tracks, all strong with no dead-weight to be found here.  This is simply a very good album that grabs the attention from the opening bars and rips along boldly with panache and clarity.  You'll be sad when it reaches the end but fortunately it can always be replayed - time and time again. The Bridget Kelly Band is a finely balanced ensemble that has a firm grasp of the music and a maturity that only comes from years of experience playing the clubs , juke-joints and bars of the  US South.  There's a great confidence in the self-written material and in its soulful delivery.  At times, I was reminded of early - perhaps the best - work of Johnny Winter. Overall, it would hard to fault anything about this release. It fair romps along from track to track with fine pacing and emotion. Highlighting the skill of the four musicians featured. An album for those who like their blues to rock their boat.
