Just a few words about the new recordings on this album; I'm Only Foolin' Myself was recorded in June/July of this year, and I was instantly attracted to the song because of the R&B feel; it remined me of my younger days!

Don't Dream It's Over I performed at the 'Free Nelson Mandela' concert and have only just conceded to the requests that came via ony/Columbia and the fan club to record it. To make it extra special, I was lucky enough to have Paul Carrack join me on vocals as he did on that day. Also recorded in June/July this year.

I first met Zucchero in Carimate, Italy during the recording of 'Between Two Fires'. Four years later, we both came up with the duet idea and Senza Una Donna at the same time. After my last tour we recorded the vocals, in fact on my birthday in January this year.

For Both Sides Now, Maire (of Clannad) came to one of our warm up shown in Ireland and afterwards suggested a duet on this song for the movie 'Switch'. The vocals were recorded during a snow blizzard in Dublin and me with a chronic dose of'flu (I hope it didn't notice!)

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all the people who have helped me over the last ten years. Everyone whose opinions I have sought, and whose talents I have used, I couldn't do without you. Paul Russell, Muff Winwood and the people that have come and gone during my stay at CBS/Sony ( at home and abroad ). Rev, Pino and Mark, who've always been around. Ged, who must know me inside out by now, Stacey and Levi, my 'unit'. All these people have been my sounding board at one time or another (yes, even Levi!), thanks to you all for being there. And, of course, last and most important, you, the people out there who have taken me into your hearts and homes for these ten, even fifteen years of my musical life - see you next year!

Paul Young was one of the '80s' best pop-soul singers, blessed with one of the finest blue-eyed-soul voices since Daryl Hall - whose "Everytime You Go Away" gave the English Young his American breakthrough single - and exquisite, surprising taste in covers.
