One Second expands the Eurodisco approach of Stella, and while it's considerably less adventurous than Yello's earlier works, it's engaging dance music, highlighted by some clever uses of Latin rhythms and vocal cameos from Billy Mackenzie and Shirley Bassey.

Stephen Thomas Erlewine - All Music Guide

"ONE SECOND completely gives in to the Latin rhythms that were previously used sparingly, and cold be the most hip-swinging of all their albums."

Mojo (p.116) - 3 stars out of 5

One Second is Yello's fifth original album, having been preceded by a 'new mix' compilation the previous year. Released in 1987, the album is noteworthy for featuring both Billy MacKenzie and Shirley Bassey, the latter singing vocals on "The Rhythm Divine". The songs "Call It Love", "Si Senor The Hairy Grill, "Moon On Ice", "Hawaiian Chance" were used on episodes of Miami Vice and the song "Santiago" used as a sample from Dunya Yunis' "Abu Zeluf".
