New age keyboardist Yanni meets traditional Mexican music more than halfway on his album Mexicanisimo. The tunes are familiar Mexican folk melodies, and the arrangements include mariachi horns and guitarrons, as male harmony singers (who can be imagined wearing big sombreros) declaim the lyrics in Spanish. Somewhere in there is Yanni, playing in his usual sparkling manner, his keyboard lines fitting into the traditional sound. The only objection his fans may have is that he takes such a backseat in the music. This is a good collection of Mexican themes, but it leans more toward easy listening than new age.

William Ruhlmann - All Music Guide

Mexicanisimo is the fifteenth studio album by Keyboardist Yanni, released on Venemusic label in 2010 (see 2010 in music). The album peaked at #15 on Billboard's "Regional Mexican Albums" chart, at #2 on Billboard's "Top New Age Albums" chart and at #31 on "Billboard's "Top Latin Albums" chart in the same year.

It is a musical tribute to Mexico during their period of Bicentennial celebrations. Yanni has collaborated with Mexican producer Manuel Cázares, interpreting many of Mexico’s songs that embrace the beauty of their heritage. The album features performances by guest stars Lucero ("Mi Ciudad") and Pepe Aguilar ("Silverio Peréz").
