This album contains various "progressive rock songs" but also some experimental and fusion elements, as well as a few melodies filled with romanticism, which seem to predict their considerable presence in Vangelis' later works. Contributing musicians include Anargyros Koulouris and Robert Fitoussi, while Warren Shapovitch provided the narration for two songs. Interesting to note is that Vangelis himself actually provided some background vocals for this album. Years later a special edition was released called "Superstar" including a book with Italian texts and photographs. This album was a long time not officially available on CD, but a bootleg existed. In 1996 the Greek department of Polygram released it on CD (Vertigo 532 783-2), but only within the borders of Greece. Plans for release by BR music in Holland were cancelled.



Recorded and released just before Vangelis hit his stride with Heaven and Hell, Earth is a sometimes unsettling mixture of Aphrodite's Child-style rock, ritual chants and darkly themed songs. Fans of his latter-day work may find this one a bit difficult to settle into.
