TRIOLOGY steht für drei Streichvirtuosen, die dem Begriff Kammermusik
neue Bedeutung verliehen und damit überall auf der Welt ihr Publikum zu
Beifallsstürmen hingerissen haben.
Das musikalische Spektrum von TRIOLOGY reicht von klassisch bis modern,
von Purcell bis Piazzolla und umfasst Einflüsse aus Klezmer, irischer
Folklore, Jazz und Minimal Music, sowie Südamerika, Indien und Afrika.
Die verschiedensten Stile sind virtuos und einfühlsam arrangiert und
auch Konzerte werden als Kunstwerk betrachtet und sorgfältig jedem
Konzertsaal angepasst. Dieser musikalische Innovationsgeist konnte
natürlich auch der Musikindustrie nicht lange verborgen bleiben.
TRIOLOGY steht mit der BMG/RCA VICTOR für 6 CD-Aufnahmen unter Vertrag.
"TRIOLOGY PLAYS ENNIO MORRICONE" ist der Titel der ersten CD. TRISTAN
SCHULZE bearbeitet darin ENNIO MORRICONES Musik, er bedient sich der
Einflüsse von Bach, Händel und Beethoven, aber auch der klanglichen und
rythmischen Welt von Jazz, Funk und Latin.
Die CD erhielt begeisterte Kritiken und führte zu Konzerten, Radio- und
Fernsehauftritten in Europa, Japan und den Vereinigten Staaten.
"WHO KILLED THE VIOLA PLAYER", die zweite CD, ist eine Kombination von
Eigenkompositionen von TRISTAN SCHULZE und ALEKSEY IGUDESMAN und
Arrangements von Astor Piazzolla, Paco de Lucia und Irischer Folklore.
Im Jahr 2000 wird TRIOLOGY ihre dritte CD aufnehmen. Geplant sind
Eigenkompositionen von TRISTAN SCHULZE, die mit nord- und
westafrikanischen Stilelementen spielen.
Die Freundschaft mit dem Geigenvirtuosen JULIAN RACHLIN resultierte in
eine von TRISTAN SCHULZE eigens auf ihn zugeschnittene Komposition. In
"THE RESURRECTION OF THE VIOLA PLAYER", einem Werk das alle
Bratschisten das Fürchten lehrt, debutiert RACHLIN auf der Viola.
TRIOLOGY präsentiert sich damit zum ersten mal als Streichquartett.
In Arbeit befindet sich ein Projekt mit dem Jazzgitarristen WOLFGANG MUTHSPIEL. Geplant ist eine gemeinsame Tournee Anfang 2001.
Der oscargekrönte Hollywood-Filmkomponist HANS ZIMMER entdeckte
TRIOLOGY anlässlich der Film-Biennale in Bonn und lud das Trio ein, am
Soundtrack für den Film "Road to El Dorado", der im Jahr 2000 in die
Kinos kommen wird, mitzuarbeiten.
Für das Jahr 2000 sind Konzerte und Tourneen in Europa, Japan, China, Mexiko und den USA geplant.
Triology sind:
DAISY JOPLING, geboren in England, gab ihr Solo Debüt im Alter von 14
Jahren in der Londoner "Royal Albert Hall". Sie studierte Violine am
Royal College of Music und am Konservatorium der Stadt Wien und später
Percussion in Ghana.
ALEKSEY IGUDESMAN aus Russland, studierte Violine in Deutschland, an
der Yehudi Menuhin School in England, am Konservatorium der Stadt Wien
und Jazzvioline am Konservatorium in Linz. Neben
Konzertmeistertätigkeiten spielt er auch in diversen Jazz- und
Rockprojekten.
TRISTAN SCHULZE, geboren im vormaligen Ostdeutschland studierte Cello
in Dresden, Sitar und Tabla in Indien, sowie Dirigieren und Komposition
an der Hochschule in Wien. Er arbeitet auch an Soloprojekten z.B.
indischen Ragas gespielt auf seinem selbstgebauten 18-saitigen Cello.

Triology is an ensemble of three string-virtuosos who have found
themselves spontaneously branching out from their classical roots,
transforming chamber music by performing with the energy of rock
musicians at the same time as developing an unusually intimate
connection between the audience and themselves. Each Triology
performance is conceived of as a whole and consists of original works
by the individual members often involving improvisation; innovative
arrangements of composers such as Astor Piazzolla, Paco de Lucia and
Ennio Morricone; and invigorating renditions of ethnic music like
Klezmer, Irish folk, jazz, Minimal music, Latin, Indian and African
music.
Triology members Daisy Jopling (from London), Aleksey Igudesman (from
St. Petersburg) and Tristan Schulze (from Dresden) met in Vienna and
now reside there. Since its debut at the Porgy & Bess jazz club in
Vienna in 1995, Triology has been invited to perform on radio and
television throughout the world. In 1997, the ensemble came to the
attention of BMG/RCA VICTOR and signed a six-CD contract with that
label. A year later, Triology's first recording, Triology Plays Ennio
Morricone was released worldwide. Highly acclaimed by the press, it was
also praised by Ennio Morricone who said: "Their broad artistic range
has enabled them to discover in my work the basis for interpretations
of great virtuosity without destroying the compositions themselves... I
must say the soloists who have recorded this compact disc are truly
authentic artists."
Academy Award-winner Hans Zimmer discovered Triology last spring at the
Filmmusik-Biennale in Bonn when they performed for Ennio Morricone. He
immediately invited them to Hollywood and London to participate in the
soundtrack of Dream Works' upcoming motion picture The Road to El
Dorado.
Triology's second recording on the BMG label is entitled "Who Killed
The Viola Player?" and will be released in 2000. It is a combination of
original compositions from Tristan Schulze and Aleksey Igudesman and
arrangements from Astor Piazzolla, Paco de Lucia and Irish Folk Music.
Triology also likes to collaborate with other artists. The trio
recently became, for the first time, a string quartet when they were
joined by renowned violinist Julian Rachlin who debuted on the viola in
a performance of Tristan Schulze's "The Resurrection of the Viola
Player." In addition, Triology is currently working on a project with
Austrian jazz guitarist Wolfgang Muthspiel, with whom they plan to tour
in 2001.
Some highlights of Triology's 1999-00 season include appearances at the
Konzerthaus in Vienna, the Rome Festival and the Ravenna Festival, as
well as tours of Mexico, Japan and China. In 2000, Triology will record
its third CD featuring Tristan Schulze's compositions inspired by North
and West African music.
Tristan Schulze crafts his compositions with a particular performer in
mind, utilizing the full range of that individual's expressive and
technical abilities, while Aleksey Igudesman's compositions extend into
the theatrical realm, calling upon the performers to display dramatic
and comedic skills. The result of this is a uniquely exuberant and
virtuosic performance for which Triology has received ecstatic
responses from audiences and critics alike.
