Twelve late-'60s RCA recordings feature a mix of styles, with some nice blues.

There's a little bit of everything on this eclectic 1970 collection from the High Priestess of Soul - blues, gospel, jazz, rock, you name it. Live tracks, studio tracks, intimate combos, big orchestras, gospel choirs - and music by Bob Dylan, Barry Gibb, Leonard Cohen, Jimmy Webb, and George Gershwin! The only constant, of course, is Simone's resonating voice - mother to the likes of Tracy Chapman and Joan Armatrading. It's an impressive survey of sounds, although it doesn't make for a cohesive listening experience; you're more likely to want to sample a track here and a track there, depending on your mood. Still, when you want a little sugar in your bowl, you'll know where to find it.
