2009 war das Jahr der Scorpions: ECHO-Award für das Lebenswerk, eine Vielzahl weiterer Auszeichnungen, grandiose Tourneen durch Russland, die USA, halb Europa. 2010 aber soll in der Karriere der international erfolgreichsten Rockband mit deutschen Wurzeln der Meilenstein gesetzt werden. Zwei Jahre lang wird die Band auf der ganzen Welt unterwegs sein und in den größten Hallen und Stadien auftreten. Gestartet wird die Mammut-Tournee zum ersten Mal seit vielen Jahren in Deutschland. Es war uns ein Anliegen, unseren Fans Gelegenheit zu geben, mit uns live eine unvergessliche Party zu feiern , sagt Band-Gründer Rudolf Schenker. Klaus Meine: Das Jahr 2010 wird ein ganz besonderes Jahr für die Scorpions werden und es tut gut, diese Tour in der Heimat zu starten. Ende Januar haben die Scorpions bekanntgegeben dass dies Album und ihre Weltournee ihre letzte sein wird. Den Auftritten in Deutschland werden Konzerte in den USA, Südamerika, Asien, Russland und weiteren europäischen Ländern folgen. Markante Gittarren riffs- toller Gesang- ein treibender groove- titel die sich hinter AC/DC nicht verstecken müssen zb Bang Bang ,Raised on rock oder The good die young. Aber auch titel die melodisch Bon Jovi in Hinblick auf Hitpotential und Radio Tauglichkeit das Wasser reichen können.Balladen vom Feinsten -zb Lorelei. Damit zeigt die Band - die vor 40 Jahren gestartet ist - dass sie in der Top Ten Liga der besten Rockacts der Welt spielt. Sting in the tail ist ohne Übertreibung das beste Scorpions Album seit 20 Jahren - was für ein Abschieds Geschenk an ihre Fans.



One does an aural double take upon hearing the opening bars of “Raised on Rock,” the first track from the Scorpions Sting in the Tail. Rudolph Schenker's opening power chord riff and guitar tone sound like something from 1976’s Virgin Killer, or 1979’s Lovedrive. When he’s joined by Matthias Jabs on their trademark twin-guitar attack, and by Klaus Meine's instantly recognizable vocal, the effect is complete, the sound familiar, but somehow not nostalgic. The riff was just a quick, humorous nod to history rather an attempt to revel in it. Sting in the Tail is reported to be the final Scorpions studio effort after 44 years. The band that vaulted to the top of the '80s metal scene with its balance of monstrously loud rock anthems (“The Zoo,” “Blackout”) and infectious power ballads (“Wind of Change,” “Still Loving You”) has decided to give it one last, honest shot at what they do best. There’s more of the former on this offering, from the aforementioned and boogie-metal party rocker that is the title track, to “Slave Me,” “No Limit,” and the amphetamine overdrive of “Rock Zone,” "Spirit of Rock," and “Turn You On” (particularly from the rhythm section of bassist Pavel Maciwoda and drummer James Kottak). Meine’s voice is in great shape; he wails and howls without any sign of wear. Another band trademark, the “gang vocal” chorus, is apparent on all the rockers. The power ballads here, “Loreli” and “Sly,” follow their formula of slowly ramping up with undeniably catchy melody, a meld of near classical form with hard rock dynamics, and multi-layered guitar and vocal textures. The songwriting here is characteristically tight, the arrangements and bridges are sophisticated, the production doesn’t give in to modern clichés, and the band comes off sounding like no one but a renewed version of themselves. As a farewell, Sting in the Tail is an album the Scorpions and their fans can be proud of.

Sting in the Tail is the seventeenth studio album by German heavy metal band Scorpions. It was released on March 19, 2010 in Europe (March 14 in Greece) and will be released on March 23 in North America. It will likely be their last studio album before retirement. The album will have a duet featuring the Finnish symphonic metal singer Tarja Turunen, in the song "The Good Die Young". A tentative title for the album was Humanity: Hour II, however this was eventually scrapped.

Die erfolgreichste deutsche Hardrock-Band aller Zeiten verabschiedet sich von der Weltbühne, veröffentlicht vorher aber noch ein gutklassiges Album, das alle ihre Stärken zum letzten Mal eindrucksvoll bündelt. Fast vier Jahrzehnte nach ihrem Debütalbum Lonesome Crow kündigen die Scorpions ihr Karriereende an, und der Auslöser dafür ist ausgerechnet Sting In The Tail, ihr bestes Album seit vielen Jahren. Als die Scheibe im Kasten war, dämmerte es den Hannoveranern, dass sie im fortgeschrittenen Alter wahrscheinlich nie wieder eine so furiose Scheibe auf die Kette bekommen werden, und konsequenterweise läuteten sie mit einer großen Welttournee das letzte Kapitel der beeindruckenden Scorpions-Historie ein. Und tatsächlich ist Sting In The Tail ein Album, mit dem man sich guten Gewissens in den Ruhestand verabschieden kann. So frisch, spielfreudig und rockig klangen die Scorpions seit mindestens Crazy World (1990) nicht mehr, sogar Vergleiche mit Hardrock-Klassikern wie Love At First Sting (1984) sind nicht aus der Luft gegriffen. Mit den von fabelhaften Riffs und Melodiebögen getragenen Hard´n´Heavy-Ohrwürmern "Raised On Rock", "The Good Die Young" (mit Gastsängerin Tarja Turunen), "Turn You On" und "Spirit Of Rock" müssen sich Klaus Meine, Rudolf Schenker & Co. weder hinter der eigenen Vergangenheit noch hinter den letzten Scheiben von Bands wie Aerosmith oder AC/DC verstecken, und die einfühlsame Feuerzeug-Ballade "Lorelei" sowie das abschließende "The Best Is Yet To Come" dürften nicht wenige Fans zu Tränen rühren. Stilvoller kann man sich kaum aufs Altenteil zurückziehen.
