Luciano Pavarotti - Tenor Vocal

 C o m m e n t s ,   N o t e s

Get 40 classic recordings by legendary tenor Luciano Pavarotti on two CDs,
free inside The Telegraph this weekend.

This features 20 tracks, running for approximately 75 minutes, and includes Pavarotti
singing Gaetano Donizetti's La Fille du régiment, of which Rupert Christiansen says:
"The effortless top C's in Tonio's aria show the young young Pavarotti's virtuosity
at its most dazzling."

On this CD, Pavarotti also performs songs by Giuseppi Verdi, Mozart and Puccini's
famous Turandot 'Nessun Dorma'

CD TWO (free inside The Sunday Telegraph on Sunday, June 12, 2011)

This also features 20 tracks, running for 75 minutes, and includes Pavarotti singing
Giacomo Puccini's La bohème, of which Rupert Christiansen wrote: "For sweetness of
tone and romantic ardour, Pavarotti's Rodolfo has never been surpassed."

On this CD, Pavarotti also performs songs by Beethoven, Bellini and Vincenzo de Crescenzo.

Since the 1990 World Cup, Nessun Dorma, the first track on CD One of this exclusive Telegraph collection, has become a worldwide favourite although primarily Pavarotti is associated with the key tenor roles in major operas including La Bohème, Un Ballo in Maschera, L'Elisir d'Amore, La Traviata, Rigoletto and Turnadot. You will find iconic pieces from each of these operas on The Telegraph's CD collection. Pavarotti is well known for bringing opera to the masses: he was the first classical artist ever to reach number one on the UK pop music charts but as well as achieving mainstream popularity, Pavarotti was admired by connoisseurs for 'his wonderfully lucid, even-toned and open-throated singing'. The Telegraph's opera critic, Rupert Christiansen, who chose the recordings for this collection, writes of Pavarotti: 'His technical virtuosity was a joy: he didn’t miss a syllable or a note, and he made it all seem effortless.'
