On Ozzy's new CD Under Cover is full of newly recorded covers of John Lennon's 'Woman', Joe Walsh's 'Rocky Mountain Way' and the Moody Blues' 'Go Now', Mountain's 'Mississippi Queen', King Crimson's '21st Century Schizoid Man', the Jeff Beck Group's Hi Ho Silver Lining', Mott The Hoople's 'All the Young Dudes' and the Rolling Stones' 'Sympathy for the Devil' and more. On the DVD side, fans will be treated to the featurette "Dinner With Ozzy and Friends," which finds him regaling his son Jack and Motorhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister with tales of rock'n'roll excess. A video for Ozzy's cover of the Beatles' 'In My Life' is also included. Legancy. 2005.

Essentially an amped-up karaoke night in the Osbournes' basement lair, Under Cover is impeccably engineered and effortlessly played - ex-Alice in Chains axe slinger Jerry Cantrell provides impressive guitar work throughout, making a strong case as to whether this is his baby or Ozzy's. All of the tracks here, with the exception of "Rocky Mountain Way," "Sunshine of Your Love," "Woman," and "Go Now," appeared on 2005's Prince of Darkness box set. Guest appearances abound, with Mott the Hoople's Ian Hunter choking out his original refrain on "All the Young Dudes" in a style that can only be described as "endearingly awkward homeless man," Mountain's Leslie West turning the amps up to 11 on "Mississippi Queen," and blues-rock wunderkind Robert Randolph laying down some serious pedal steel on "Sympathy for the Devil." The Ozz himself is in good form, but as is the case with much of his later work, he sounds more like the tool than the fist. It's good to give a nod to your inspirations, but when it's a performer like Osbourne, who has made the uncomfortable shift from artist to product, the sentiment - however genuine - gets lost in the marketing.

Under Cover is the ninth studio album by heavy metal vocalist Ozzy Osbourne. The album consists entirely of cover songs. This is Osbourne's first and only album to feature cover songs from various artists, as well as the only one to feature Chris Wyse on bass. In 1982, Osbourne released the live album Speak of the Devil which featured renditions of songs from his time with Black Sabbath. All but 4 songs were originally released in the box set Prince of Darkness. The additional songs on this album which are not featured in the Prince of Darkness are "Rocky Mountain Way" "Sunshine of Your Love" "Woman" and "Go Now".

Under Cover is the only Osbourne album to feature the work of Alice in Chains' guitarist Jerry Cantrell, and the final Osbourne album to feature bassist Chris Wyse. Ten of the album's thirteen tracks were also released as part of the four-disc compilation Prince of Darkness, released earlier the same year.

The album is also available in DualDisc format. This version contains the bonus track "Changes" (originally by Black Sabbath), performed by Osbourne and his daughter Kelly Osbourne. The DVD side contains all the songs in enhanced stereo, a documentary entitled Dinner with Ozzy and Friends, and a video for the song "In My Life".

"Mississippi Queen" was released as a single and peaked at number 10 on the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks.
