XXV - The Essential is a good overview of highlights from Mike Oldfield's Virgin and Warner recordings. Some of the tracks are included in their original form, while others - including, inexplicably, "Tubular Bells III" - are present in edited or remixed versions. It's not a bad sampler, but it's frustrating since it doesn't present the original recorded versions of each song. Nevertheless, it is an adequate summary of Oldfield's '90s recordings.
