This is the first MO album not to include a side-long composition.

The original title of the album was Carnival.



The beginnings of the "Taurus" series with "Taurus I" but little that springs out and sticks in the mind -- even the title track, celebrating the ocean liner, is flat. On the whole, the best cuts here are the covers of "Arrival" and "Wonderful Land"

Q.E.2., zuerst veröffentlicht 1980, zeichnet bereits den Weg Mike Oldfields vom LP-Künstler, mit Werken wie Tubular Bells oder Hergest Ride, zum (auch-) Single-Künstler, mit Tracks wie "Moonlight Shadow" oder "To France", vor. Deutlich mehr und kürzere Lieder als bisher auf dieser CD, ohne dass natürlich das obligatorische lange Instrumental, hier "Taurus II", fehlen würde. Die CD ist insgesamt sehr durch keltischen Folk geprägt, mit leichten Ausflügen ins afrikanische, eine Richtung, die Oldfield ja auch später mit "Songs Of Distant Earth" wieder aufgriff. Erwähnenswert ist wohl auch, dass bei zwei Stücken Phil Collins an den Drums sitzt und hier die fantastische Stimme von Maggie Reilly das erste Mal richtig zum tragen kam.
