As a homage to Kitarō's lifetime reverence for Nature, Final Call is a voyage of introspection specifically concerned about how we treat our planet.  It's Kitarō's assertion that the planet itself is crying out and warning us about potential serious consequences if we don't address these global issues in a timely fashion.

In his own words, Kitarō describes his new musical work, "I have always felt we all must respect the providence of the Universe.  Unfortunately, through the course of time and the growth of civilization, many living creatures that we now know will become extinct.  If we don't alter how we treat each other and our planet Earth, many habitats and portions of this earth may become devastated and eventually disappear.  This album is the story of an epic voyage...  A voyage of hope that all living creatures can someday live happily in harmony with each other.  The story begins from where we board for departure."

Kitarō is universally acknowledged as the founding architect of new age music.  His various sound collaborations and resonant, multi-textured compositions truly defy the constraints of any genre.  The Grammy and Golden Globe-winning Kitarō has garnered global acclaim over a more than three decade long career with a signature sound and a pioneering fusion of cultures, techniques and spheres of consciousness that are truly his own.

In December 2013, Kitarō was honored by The National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences for his work on Final Call, recognized as Best New Age Album, becoming Kitarō’s 15th career Grammy Award nomination.

Kitarō created with "Final Call" a very interesting release. It's a change of experimental sounds with pieces that could be part of Sacred Journey of Ku-Kai. You can hear single sounds that were not used since Ten Kai. Other sounds are known from Kojiki or Gaia.Onbashira.

But the big surprise is the song "Traveler". The piece starts with a pizzicato sound and you expect something in the style of Cirque Ingenieux. At 1:40 suddenly the music changes and you get electronic music in best "Berlin School" tradition. The background rhythm sounds like "Rubycon 2" from the album "Rubycon" by the group Tangerine Dream, just a little bit faster. Kitarō also used the echo sound that Pink Floyd already used in the song "One Of Those Days" on the album "Meddle". Man, I love that combination!

What I don't like very much are the choir sounds that Kitarō used in three songs ("Final Call", Valley Of The Spirit" and "Solar Eclipse"). They sound too much like a sample library and esp. in "Solar Eclipse" it sounds like a "poor man's Enya choir". Disregarding the choir sounds I really recommand "Final Call".
