2012 CD EMI - 50999 6 23571 2 8

A Jethro Tull Greatest Hits album doesn't need that much said about it - if you're reading this you probably already know that they were a great band and will almost certainly know many if not all of the tracks on this set. It is worth saying, though, that it's a terrific compilation. My Jethro Tull is all on vinyl (mainly from the Aqualung/Thick as a Brick sort of era) and I wanted some highlights on CD. This is a very good sample.

All the great songs are here - Witches' Promise, Aqualung, Locomotive Breath, Life's A Long Song... there's a long list of classics. There is also a very nice selection of less obvious album tracks - what tipped me into getting this was the inclusion of the beautiful Wond'ring Aloud, for example - and also some later stuff which I was much less familiar with and am very glad to have.

Experienced Jethro Tull listeners won't need me to tell them this is a great collection (although it is) and if you want somewhere to start with one of the great and truly inventive bands of the late 60s and 70s and who have kept it up since, this is a fine setting of point. Warmly recommended.
