Def Leppard, Britain’s greatest arena rock band, release a deluxe editions of the classic album Pyromania. Having sold over 65 million albums worldwide since their debut release in 1980 and proved themselves one of rock music’s hardest working and consistently powerful live bands (playing to over 50 million fans in the last 15 years alone), this timely deluxe expanded edition is a must for any discerning music fan. Def Leppard remain one of only five rock groups who can claim two separate original 10 million plus selling albums in the US (Pyromania being one of them). The others are The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Van Halen. The "deluxe edition" will feature deluxe digi - pack gatefold packaging with expanded booklets containing rare and previously unseen photographs, comprehensive sleeve-notes telling the story behind the album and includes images of rare single covers and memorabilia from the period. Liner notes come from Rolling Stone’s David Fricke. Pyromania, Def Leppard’s third album originally released in 1983, was the album that took the band to the global stage. Produced by Robert "Mutt" Lang, the album sold over 10 million copies in the USA alone and spawned the huge singles "Photograph", "Rock Of Ages" and "Foolin'". The deluxe edition features a re-mastered version of the original album and a bonus disc of a previously unreleased 15 track show from the LA Forum in 1983.

While Def Leppard had obviously wanted to write big-sounding anthems on their previous records, Pyromania was where the band's vision coalesced and gelled into something more. More than ever before, the band's songs on Pyromania are driven by catchy, shiny melodic hooks instead of heavy guitar riffs, although the latter do pop up once in a while. But it wasn't just this newly intensified focus on melody and consistent songwriting (and heavy MTV exposure) that made Pyromania a massive success - and the catalyst for the '80s pop-metal movement. Robert John "Mutt" Lange's buffed-to-a-sheen production - polished drum and guitar sounds, multi-tracked layers of vocal harmonies, a general sanding of any and all musical rough edges, and a perfectionistic attention to detail - set the style for much of the melodic hard rock that followed. It wasn't a raw or spontaneous sound, but the performances were still energetic and committed. Leppard's quest for huge, transcendent hard rock perfection on Pyromania was surprisingly successful; their reach never exceeded their grasp, which makes the album an enduring (and massively influential) classic.

Steve Huey - All Music Guide

Def Leppard's rock sensibilities shot them right to the top of the charts in the '80s. On their third album, Pyromania, the band reconciled new wave melodicism with heavy metal and catchy hooks without compromising any of its edge. The album has sold over 10 million copies, due in part to heavy rotation on MTV. But even without their ubiquitous television presence, anthems like "Rock of Ages" and "Foolin'" still had the stuff that drove the kids crazy. Bursts of screaming guitars and simple power riffs joined forces with choruses that begged to be shouted along to. Guitarists Phil Collen and Steve Clarke may have provided all the pyrotechnics on Pyromania, but the focal point of Def Leppard's sound, particularly for their teenage female fans, was singer Joe Elliott's voice (and, of course, his hair). The record--an essential brick in the foundation of '80s metal--also contains the hit "Photograph."

Just when it seemed like synthesizers had taken over the airwaves, along comes Def Leppard with Pyromania, a heavy-metal album full of brawling guitars and boasting state-of-the-radio production. Steve Clark and new member Phil Collen's fat fuzz riffs and power chords are more emotionally charged than most of the synthesized disco that passes for "modern music," and Robert John "Mutt" Lange's work behind the board brings singer Joe Elliott's screaming vocals into focus. "Action! Not words," crows Elliott in the track of the same name, and that modus operandi holds true for most of the album. Rick Allen's crack-shot drumming, the thick layers of guitars and the enveloping echo of Lange's artfully busy mix more than cover up the street-corner rhyming of these tales of Tarzan sexuality and macho party exploits. But this young band (the average age is twenty-one) demonstrates surprising sophistication as it manipulates old heavy-metal tricks into tight, invigorating songs while holding epic pretensions in check. Both "Comin' under Fire" and "Photograph" combine the kaboom of AC/DC with slick choruses and brassy vocal harmonies that sound like a gassed-up Boston. Def Leppard may not be highly original, but they mean what they play, and Pyromania puts some much-needed fire back on the radio.

Rock! Rock! (Till You Drop)

Hold onto your hat, hold onto your heart
Ready, get set to tear this place apart
Don't need a ticket, only place in town
That'll take you up to heaven and never bring you down
Anything goes, anything goes

Women to the left, women to the right
There to entertain and take you thru the night
So grab a little heat and come along with me
Cause your mama don't mind what your mama don't see
Anything goes, anything goes

I said rock rock till you drop
Rock rock never stop
Rock rock till you drop
I say rock rock to the top

Ridin' into danger, laughin' all the way
Fast, free and easy, livin' for today
Gotta lip service, get it while you can
Hot, sweat 'n' nervous love on demand
Anything goes, anything goes
All night long

I said rock rock till you drop
Come on rock rock never stop
You gotta rock rock till you drop
I say rock rock to the top

Rock rock give it to me
It's what I got goin' thru' me
Don't ever stop do it to me
Yeah, rock rock you really move me

Here we go
Rock rock till you drop
Rock rock never stop
Come on and rock rock till you drop
We gonna rock until you drop
Gonna take you to the top

Rock rock till you drop
Rock rock never stop
Come on, come on, come on

Hold on, hold on, hold tight
We're gonna rock tonight
Too right
Too loud man, too loud

Photograph

I'm outa luck, outa love
Gotta photograph, picture of
Passion killer, you're too much
You're the only one I wanna touch
I see your face every time I dream
On every page, every magazine
So wild and free, so far from me
You're all I want, my fantasy

Oh, look what you've done to this rock 'n' roll clown
Oh oh, look what you've done

Photograph - I don't want your
Photograph - I don't need your
Photograph - All I've got is a photograph
But it's not enough

I'd be your lover, if you were there
Put your hurt on me, if you dare
Such a woman, you got style
You make every man feel like a child, oh
You got some kinda hold on me
You're all wrapped up in mystery
So wild and free, so far from me
You're all I want, my fantasy

Oh, look what you've done to this rock 'n' roll clown
Oh oh, look what you've done

Photograph - I don't want your
Photograph - I don't need your
Photograph - All I've got is a photograph
You've gone straight to my head

Oh, look what you've done to this rock 'n' roll clown
Oh Oh, look what you've done
I gotta have you

Photograph - I don't want your
Photograph - I don't need your
Photograph - All I've got is a photograph
I wanna touch you

Photograph
Photograph - Your photograph
Photograph -
Photograph - I need only your
Photograph - I'm outa love
Photograph - I'm outa love
Photograph - You're the only one
Photograph - I wanna touch

Stagefright

I said Welcome to my show
It's just a-you and me baby
We got the whole damn night to go

You're holding out on me, while I'm on fire
If you can't stand the heat, then you should try
Victim of my vices, you know you are
You skate on ice to paradise, stairway to the stars

Stagefright all night, won't you let go
All night Stagefright, on with the show

You come on like a lady dressed to kill
Never thought you could be caught, but you will
A little understanding, a little love
A headline act around the back, is what I'm thinkin' of

Stagefright all night, won't you let go
All night stagefright, on with the show
Stagefright all night, you're dream starts today
All night Stagefright, is only a heartbeat away

You're going for my head, you're going down
Gettin' good at being bad, you're hangin' round
A fun inspired asylum, toys for the boys
Love on the rocks, forget-me-nots, you got no CHOICE

Stagefright all night, oh won't you let go
All night stagefright, get on with the show
Stagefright all night, you're dream starts today
All night Stagefright, is only a heartbeat away

Stagefright all night, oh won't you let go
All night stagefright, get on with the show

Too Late For Love

Somewhere in the distance I hear the bells ring
Darkness settles on the town as the children start to sing
And the lady 'cross the street she shuts out the night
There's a cast of thousands waiting as she turns out the light

But it's too late, too late, too late
Too late for love
Yes it's too late, too late, too late
Too late for love

London boys are gazing as the girls go hand in hand
With a pocket full of innocence, their entrance is grand
And the queen of the dream stands before them all
She stretches out her hand as the curtains start to fall

But it's too late, too late, too late
Too late for love
Yes it's too late, too late, it's too late
Too late for love

Standing by the trapdoor aware of me and you
Are the actor and the clown they're waiting for their cue
And there's a lady over there she's acting pretty cool
But when it comes to playing life she always plays the fool

But it's too late, too late, it's too late
Too late for love
It's too late, it's too late, too late
Too late for love

Is it all too late
Much too late
Can't you see it's all too late
It's too late

But it's too late, too late, it's too late
Too late for love
It's too late, it's too late, too late
Too late for love

Die Hard The Hunter

Let's welcome home the soldier boy from (far away, far away)
No angel of mercy just a need to destroy (fire away, fire away)
Let's toast the hero with blood in his eyes
The scars on his mind took so many lives
Die hard the hunter

Welcome home soldier boy
Put down your pistol, yeah, put down your toy
Yeah, they can take a gun away from you
But never take away your attitude
They can't do that, oh no no, they can't do that

You got no enemy, no front line
The only battle's in the back of your mind
You don't know how to change from bad to good
You brought the war to your neighborhood
You can't do that, oh no no, can't do that

Back in the city, he's a man on the loose
He is the shadow that's been following you
He takes no prisoners when he's hunting for game
He's got a bullet and it carries your name

(Die Hard) You're caught in a trap
(Hunter) There's no lookin' back
(Die Hard) He's lost in the crowd
(Hunter) Die Hard and proud

Die hard the hunter
Die hard the hunter
You better watch out
Die hard the hunter
Die hard the hunter

He's got blood in his eyes

Foolin'

Lady luck never smiles
So lend your love to me awhile
Do with me what you will
Break the spell take your fill
On and on we rode the storm
The flame has died and the fire has gone
Oh, this empty bed is a night alone
I realized that long ago

Is anybody out there, anybody there
Does anybody wonder, anybody care

Oh, I just gotta know
If you're really there and you really care
Cause baby I'm not

F-F-F-foolin', ah F-F-foolin'
F-F-F-foolin', ah F-F-foolin'
Won't you stay with me awhile

Close your eyes don't run and hide
Easy love is an easy ride
Just wakin' up from what we had
Could stop good love from going bad

Is anybody out there, anybody there
Does anybody wonder, anybody care

Oh, I just gotta know
If you're really there and you really care
Cause baby I'm not

F-F-F-foolin', ah F-F-foolin'
F-F-F-foolin', ah F-F-foolin'

Oh, I just gotta know
If you're really there and you really care
Cause baby I'm not

F-F-F-foolin', ah F-F-foolin'
Not F-F-F-foolin', ah F-F-foolin'

I'm not foolin' myself
I'm not foolin' myself
I'm not foolin' myself
I'm not foolin' myself

Rock Of Ages

Gunter glieben glauchen globen
Alright
I got something to say
Yeah, it's better to burn out
Yeah, than fade away
All right
Ow
Gonna start a fire
C'mon!

Rise up! Gather round
Rock this place to the ground
Burn it up let's go for broke
Watch the night go up in smoke
Rock on! (rock on!)
Drive me crazier, no serenade
No fire brigade, just Pyromania, c'mon

What do you want? What do you want?
I want rock'n'roll, yes I do
Long live rock'n'roll

Oh let's go, let's strike a light
We're gonna blow like dynamite
I don't care if it takes all night
Gonna set this town alight, c'mon

What do you want? What do you want?
I want rock'n'roll, alright!
Long live rock'n'roll, oh yeah

Rock of ages, rock of ages
Still rollin', keep a-rollin'
Rock of ages, rock of ages
Still rollin', rock'n'rollin'

We got the power, got the glory
Just say you need it and if you need it
Say yeah!
Ooh yeah
Heh heh heh heh

Now listen to me
I'm Burnin', burnin', I got the fever
I know for sure, there ain't no cure
So feel it, don't fight it, go with the flow
Gimme, gimme, gimme, gimme one more for the road

What do you want? What do you want?
I want rock'n'roll, You betcha
Long live rock'n'roll

Rock of ages, rock of ages
Still rollin', keep a-rollin'
Rock of ages, rock of ages
Still rollin', rock'n'rollin'

Comin' Under Fire

Your kind of woman gotta heart of stone
But watch it break when I get you alone
Take a chance, come lay down with me
Oh, I wanna make it

Slow and steady never lost the race
Don't stop runnin', I'm a fool for the chase
Play the game, surrender to me
Baby, I don't wanna fake it

Is it any wonder, you got me comin' under fire
Comin' like thunder, you know you make me walk the wire

It's so easy to put on a show
Your body says yes but you won't let it go
But my passion it won't slip away
Oh I'm not going crazy

Is it any wonder, you got me comin' under fire
Comin' like thunder, you know you make me walk the wire

Under fire, you got me comin under fire
You got me comin' under fire
Oh yeah, I'm comin' under fire
You body says yes
But baby, please let it go
Let it go

You got me, I'm cornered, my back to the wall
No bed of roses, ain't no bed at all
I'm walkin' the wire, I stumble and fall
I got my message but I ain't gonna crawl

Is it any wonder, you got me comin' under fire
Comin' like thunder, you know you make me walk the wire

Is it any wonder, you got me comin' under fire
Comin' like thunder, you know you make me walk the wire

Under fire, you got me comin under fire
You got me comin' under fire
Oh yeah, I'm comin' under fire

Action! Not Words

I'm sick and tired of the damn TV
I'm gonna make my own movie
I wanna star in a late night show
And all I need is my video

Shock me, make it electric
Shock me, make it last

Curtain up let the camera roll
It's automatic it's in control
Got no script baby, ain't no lines
Just me and you and a real good time

Oh shock me, make it electric
Shock me, make it last
Shock me, gimme thunder 'n' lightning
Shock me, ooh babe I need it fast

Cause all I need is some
Action, action, action, not words
Gimme action, action, action not words

C'mon and shock me
Let the cameras roll

I'll be the hero, you be the star
With your wine and your caviar
No audition, a starring roll
I'll be your Bogart and you be Monroe yeah

Shock me, make it electric
Shock me, oh bump and grind
Shock me, make a night to remember
Shock me, do it one more time

So cut me in on the action
Lights, camera, sound, I need action

Action, action, gimme action not words
Let the camera roll
Action, action, action not words
I need a little
Action, action, action not words
Shake a little piece of your
Action, action, action not words
Come on, talk to me with your body

Billy's Got A Gun

Billy's got a gun, he's on the run
Confusion in his mind, the blind leads the blind
Oh, Billy's got a gun, he's gonna shoot ya down
He's got evil in his eyes, got a reason to despise
There's danger in the air

Can you feel it in the air
There's danger in the air, danger
Such a strange emotion
Can you feel it in the air

Oh he was locked inside a room without a door
His innocence he suffered for
In a world of black and white, they were wrong and he was right
Just looking for a clue, it's a nightmare come true
He's going underground to track that danger down
Oh Billy, hey why you got that gun?

Can you feel it in the air
There's danger in the air, danger
Such a strange emotion
Can you feel it in the air
Oh Billy

Never give him an even break
Gettin' caught is the chance you take
It could be your last mistake
You could be so helpless
As a bird with a broken wing
Like a sheep in a lion's den
Gonna fall but you won't know when
He's gonna get you

You hear footsteps in the night, see shadows on the wall
And the ghostly sound of silence, as the mist begins to fall
Then a scream rang out like thunder, but the lightning was too late
As the rain came down on the crimson ground
It was the hand of fate
And a crowd of people gathered round, but Billy couldn't wait

Can you feel it in the air
There's danger in the air, danger
Such a strange emotion
Can you feel it in the air?
Yeah, Billy's on the run

Oh, you better run
Never gave him an even break, better run
Gettin' caught is the chance you take, you better run
It could be your last mistake
Yeah Billy's got a gun
As a bird with a broken wing, oh Billy
Like a sheep in a lion's den, oh Billy
Gonna fall but you won't know when, yeah Billy's out
He's gonna get you

Bang bang
