Tabernacle Choir in this entertaining, sophisticated and merry
collection. Tracks include "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen," "O Little
Town of Bethlehem," "Away in a Manger," "The Twelve Days of Christmas"
and "Carol of the Bells."
First released more than 40 years ago, this is still one of the
essential Christmas albums. Nothing subtle or understated here,
the album is full of big brilliant arrangements. Along with many
of the old warhorses, there are some lesser known gems. "Lullay
My Liking" is an old English carol arranged by Gustav Holst; and "La
Virgen Lava Panales" is a lovely Spanish carol.
