2012 CD BEDMIAMICD1 01

John Digweed's Bedrock Records will release a new compilation, Underground Sound of Miami, next week as WMC moves into full swing.

Digweed has been a fixture of WMC's party scene for over a decade. In preparation for this year's conference, the UK veteran has put together ten exclusive, unmixed Bedrock tracks, which will be made available on CD and via digital download. As you might expect, Underground Sound of Miami is a sunny collection of progressive house and techno, with contributions coming from label regulars and newcomers alike. Sirenize, AKA Rowan Blades and Dennis White, handle the opening track "Everybody," and Stelios Vassiloudis (whose debut album It Is What It Is dropped on Bedrock late last year) gets involved with two tracks, one of which is a collaboration with Sasse. Robert Babicz, Guy J and Wehbba are also on board. Pig & Dan team up with Mark Reeve and Dean Demanuele on the track "Machines," amd Dosem's "How Do You Do It" winds down the compilation.

Whether you take this whole Miami thing serious or not, fact is that the event brings along plenty of opportunities to hear new music from labels and artists. These opportunities often present themselves in the form of samplers (which appear even before promo mailings are sent out) and quality tends to vary, but this one right here is something special. Why? 'cuz new stuff from the mighty Bedrock label always has our undivided attention, and once again we're not being let down...

10 fresh tracks is what this compilation offers, and it's quality as far as the eye can see. Sound wise this compilation falls into the progressive category, with a wide range of deep and techy influences mixed in. Sirenize's Everybody immediatley sets the mood for more hotness coming from the likes of Robert Babicz (the absolutely evil Echo From The Past), Maher Daniel & Casa's Music, Machines & Life (a dark twisted progressive/techno hybrid that can destroy any floor), and the super sick shuffler that is Wehbba's Motone. Each track breathes Bedrock, but there's plenty of diversity to keep things interesting until the final beat.
