As revealed in the multiple pictures in the CD package and in the video
featured as part of the disc's multi-media content, Anastacia is, in
appearance, yet another teen dream with cascades of blonde hair and an
exposed navel (though perhaps her ever-present, and ever-changing,
spectacles are supposed to signal a higher intellectual content). But
her musical models aren't Britney Spears or Christina Aguilera, they
are Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner, and Martha Wash. Anastacia possesses
a big, expressive alto voice that her many co-writers and producers
(primarily Rik Wake [Celine Dion, Mariah Carey] and the team of
ex-Color Me Badd member Sam Watters and Louis Biancaniello, though Carl
Sturken and Evan Rogers, authors of 'N Sync's "God Must Have Spent a
Little More Time on You," have two tracks) use in updated R&B,
dance, and funk tracks. "I'm Outta Love," which just missed topping the
dance charts, is an aggressive dancefloor item, and its follow-up, the
title song, is in a funk style reminiscent of Aretha Franklin's '80s
work. "I Ask of You" is one of those slow, deliberate big ballads that
recalls "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" as well as that song's
singer, Jennifer Holliday. And so it goes. The only real misstep on the
album is the inevitable Diane Warren adult contemporary romantic
ballad, "Late Last Night," which forces the singer to rein in her
voice, though even then she doesn't really negotiate its lyrical
complexity. Despite her toothsome appearance, Anastacia may be too old
school to break through in the U.S., though this album has been a
commercial success overseas. (The American version has been altered
from the foreign one, with a couple of tracks added and dropped.) But
Macy Gray demonstrated that a broad audience may respond to an older
style if the singer herself is distinguished enough. Anastacia doesn't
have the kind of unique timbre that Gray does — in fact, the
minute she opens her mouth she starts reminding you of other singers,
especially Aretha Franklin — but she is clearly a big talent, and
that should count for something.
After early support from Elton John and success across the UK and much
of Europe, Anastacia's debut album gets a U.S. relaunch with one
additional track. More Chaka Khan than Mariah Carey, the Chicago-born
Anastacia brings both a powerful voice and a sense of restraint to
these performances. There's no doubt that this is a grown woman, not
another teenager copying Britney Spears' attempts to conjure Janet
Jackson. All that said, something unconvincing lurks in Not That Kind.
The singer (and co-writer of most of these songs) has obviously done
her homework on '70s soul music; "Don'tcha Wanna" owes enough to Stevie
Wonder's "I Believe (When I Fall in Love It Will Be Forever)" to
occasion a co-writing credit to the maestro. It's simply that she
relies too much on mannerism to fully give herself to the material. She
sounds at home enough within these modernized pastiches of everything
from late Atlantic-period Aretha to Donna Summer, but never really
socks one home the way a complete original like Macy Gray would. In
turn, that failure makes the attitudinizing of "Yo Trippin'" and "Why'd
You Lie to Me" fall flat.

Born in New York, raised in Chicago and caught in something of a
musical time warp, Anastacia Newkirk is a soul singer with an
incredible voice and a debut album that would be as happy in the
mid-1980s as it is at the turn of the century. Working with producers
whose credits include CeCe Penniston, Mariah Carey, Montell Jordan,
Taylor Dane and Color Me Bad, Not That Kind is a collection of songs
that relies on tried and tested pop tactics: big choruses, anthemic
tunes and swaying ballads, rather than fashion conscious production
tricks. Luckily, she's so stirring--especially with her Chaka
Khan-esque vocals on the soul/funk title track, "I'm Outta Love", and
on the Tina Turner-ish blues & soul stomper "I Was Made For Loving
You"--that the shiny guitars, synth-basslines and pre-reinvention
Whitney Houston overtones of power ballad "I Ask Of You" (which could
have come straight off The Bodyguard soundtrack) pale into
insignificance. Times have moved on and R&B has become more
sophisticated, but infectious tunes are still any album¹s
essential ingredient--and Not That Kind has plenty of them.

Tina
Turner und Donna Summer grüßen von Ferne. Egal ob in
kuscheligen Balladen wie "I Ask Of You", schwülen Funk-Tunes wie
"Made For Lovin' You" oder der unwiderstehlichen Disco-Hymne "I'm Outta

Newcomer Anastacia makes her point early on in her debut CD. In a deep,
bluesy voice reminiscent of Tina Turner, the funk-fueled opening cut
suggests the singer is the latest in a line of artists that includes
Macy Gray and Jill Scott, whose singing looks to pre-'80s soul classics
rather than the newer Houston/Carey-inspired pop pack. Anastacia's
aspirations might come as a surprise, since she first broke into the
music business as a dancer for Club MTV. Certainly, Anastacia's thick,
gurgling gospel-soul voice aside, Not That Kind often blurs old- and
new-school R&B, particularly when the New York-based singer croons
over the stuttering beats of such tracks as "Why'd You Lie to Me."

Musikalisch passt "Not That Kind" in keine Schublade.
B. Das Album lässt alle Genres miteinander verschmelzen.
Umfeld befand."
fester Bestandteil des "New York Dance Clubs/1018".
oder "Twist And Shout".
Gesangswettbewerb.
Jury (u.a. Pete Rock, David Foster, Fatih Evans) ihr Gesangstalent zum
Besten geben mussten.
Auf "Not That Kind" bekommt die Ausnahme-Sängerin tatkräftige
Unterstützung von den angesehensten Künstlern der
Musikbranche.
"Nothin' At All", sowie "Not That Kind" und der Mid-Tempo-Track
"Wishing Well" gehen auf das Konto des hitverwöhnten Produzenten
(u.a. Mariah Carey, Celine Dion). Ausserdem lieferten Sam Watters
(Color Me Bad) und Louis Biancaniello mit "Made For Lovin' You", "Don't
You Wanna", "I Ask Of You" und dem dance-angehauchtem "I'm Outta Love"
gleich vier weitere Highlights des Albums ab. Auch das Erfolgs-Duo Carl
Sturken und Evan Rogers, die schon für N' Syncs "(God Must Have
Spent) A Little More Time On You" die Verantwortung trugen, waren mit
von der Partie. Sie steuerten die Tracks "Who's Gonna Stop The Rain"
und "Same Old Story" bei. "Die meissten Songs entstanden sehr spontan
und aus dem Bauch heraus", resümiert die Sängerin, "und
dementsprechend habe ich die Titel auch im Studio eingesungen.".

Genau zu dem Zeitpunkt, da sich im Musikgeschäft eine kleine
Lücke auf tut, sich die etablierten Sirenen nicht gerade mit einer
Tonträgerschwemme hervortun und auch eine Whitney Houston nur mit
einer drögen "Best Of"-Platte rüber kommt, setzt Anastacia
Wird beim Opener "Not That Kind" noch sexy
So
"Who's Gonna Stop
Einsatz bekommen.
Strophe - Refrain - Strophe, man kennt das ja. Nichts
Außergewöhnliches oder gar Ergreifendes. "Love Is Alive"
vorhanden ("Made For Lovin' You", "Yo Trippin'") und sorgen dafür,
dass der Gesamteindruck von "Not That Kind" doch eher positiv
ausfällt.

All the time that we spend together
I won't fuss
I won't fight tryin to make you mine
You know I'm not that kind
Ha
Wooh
Ah c'mon
I said I'll love you 'til the 12th of never
But I won't run far ahead
Leaving you behind
You know I'm not that kind
'Cause I'm not that kind of girl
(Not that kind)
(Not that kind of girl)
And it's not my kind of world
(Not that kind)
(Not that kind of girl)
No it's not for me
(Not that kind)
Not where I wanna be
(Uh, uh)
(Not that kind of girl)
Help me out
Tell me what you're thinkin
If I rush, slow me down
You can take your time
You know I'm not that kind
(Not that kind)
Yeah
(No I'm not that kind of girl)
Woooh
If you leave, I believe life will go on
The wind will blow, water flow
And the sun will shine, yeah it will
You know I'm not that kind
Yeah
'Cause I'm not that kind of girl
(Not that kind)
(Not that kind of girl)
And it's not my kind of world
(Not that kind)
(Not that kind of girl)
No it's not for me
(Not that kind)
So live and set you free
Yeah
Now what I say to you
I would say to no other
I've got my friends
I won't look for another in you, yeah
So what you gonna do?
Yeah yeah yeah
'Cause if you swing with me
You soon will discover
I give you tenderness
Unlike any other can do
Oah
And what I say is true
Yeah yeah yeah
'Cause I'm not that kind of girl
(Not that kind)
(Not that kind of girl)
And it's not my kind of world
No it's not for me, not for me
I said not where I wanna be
Said not where I wanna be, yeah
It's not my kinda thing,
It's not the way, way we wanna swing
It's not for you, it's not for me
I said my baby
I'm not that kind
I'm not that kind, yeah
No (not that kind)
Not that kind of girl
I'm Outta Love
Now baby come on
Don't claim that love you never let me feel
I should've known
'Cause you've brought nothing real
Come on be a man about it
You won't die
I ain't got no more tears to cry
And I can't take this no more
You know I gotta let it go
And you know
I'm outta love
Set me free
And let me out this misery
Just show me the way
To get my life again
'Cause you can't handle me
I'm outta love
Can't you see
Baby that you've gotta set me free
I'm outta love
Said how many times
Have I tried to turn this love around?
But every time you just let me down
Come on be a man about it
You'll survive
True that you can work it out all right
Tell me
Yesterday did you know
I'd be the one to let you go?
And you know
I'm outta love
Set me free
And let me out this misery
Just show me the way
To get my life again
'Cause you can't handle me
I'm outta love
Can't you see
Baby that you've gotta set me free
I'm outta love
Let me get over you
The way you've gotten over me too, yeah
Seems like my time has come
And now I'm moving on
I'll be strong yeah
I'm outta love
Set me free
And let me out this misery
Just show me the way
To get my life again
'Cause you can't handle me
I'm outta love
Can't you see
Baby that you've gotta set me free
I'm outta love
Cowboys & Kisses
Cowboys and kisses
Cowboys and kisses
Gotta find myself everytime you go away
Baggy blue jeans and a box of magazines
Is all I have of you
Waitin' on the day you walk back in my life
Like a newborn child, you made me smile,
Then stole my heart away
We may be outta touch, but never out of time
(Come back to me boy)
Come back to me boy
(Cowboys and kisses)
Always seem to bring me down
You're like a weight in my pocket
Everytime you come around
Damn those cowboys and kisses
Gotta find myself everytime you go away
Holdin on to you like a pair of old shoes
That you never throw away
Every road still leads me back to you, yeah
Your little white lies and butterflies made me shed a tear
Still I'm prayin on the day that you'll be mine (mine)
Why do all these
(Cowboys and kisses)
Always seem to bring me down (down)
You're like a weight in my pocket
Everytime you come around
(Damn those) Cowboys and kisses
Gotta find myself everytime you go away
Everytime, everytime baby
(Cowboys and kisses)
(Always seem to bring me down)
You're like a weight in my pocket
Everytime you come around
Damn those cowboys and kisses
Gotta find myself everytime you go away
Yeah
Why do I keep on holding you
When all you do is hurt me?
All my friends say I should let you go
So afraid that I might see
I can't keep on living life like this
Up and down in and out
I wonder, is this world just a cowboy and a kiss?
Or should I choose another?
(Cowboys and kisses)
Always seem to bring me down
You're like a weight in my pocket
Everytime you come around
Damn those cowboys and kisses
I said I gotta find myself everytime you go away
Everytime
Everytime you go away
(Cowboys and kisses)
Always seem to bring me down
You're like a weight in my pocket
Everytime you come around
Damn those cowboys and kisses
Gotta find myself everytime you go away
I said I said I said I said
Gotta find myself everytime you go away
Gotta find myself everytime you go away
Yeah
(Cowboys and kisses)
Yeah yeah yeah
Who's Gonna Stop The Rain
(Oh, oh, oh)
There is no rose without a thorn
No rain without the storm
(Oh, oh, oh)
There is no laughter without tears
No wisdom without years
(Oh, oh, oh)
In a world gone crazy
Torn between the roads
That we must choose
Win or lose
If every soul should lose it's way
If every face should lose it's name
Tell me who's gonna stop the rain?
(Oh, oh, oh)
(Oh, oh, oh)
(Oh, oh, oh)
Each day another boy and girl
Sets foot into this world
(Oh, oh, oh)
One reaches out to touch the sky
One never learns to fly
(Oh, oh, oh)
Where is it written in the stone
That any child should walk alone
Out on their own?
If no one tries to end this game
Or find a way to ease the pain
Tell me who's gonna stop the rain?
(Oh, oh, oh)
Who's gonna stop
The rain?
I said who's gonna stop the rain?
Hey, hey, yeah
How many rivers must we cross before we learn
That the flood is rising high
And the bridges all have burned
Each time another dream is washed into the sea
It's another piece of you
It's another piece of
Me
Oh yeah
(Oh, oh, oh)
Sure as the blood runs through your veins
Sure as the falling rain, oh yeah
(Oh, oh, oh)
We'll taste the tears of each defeat
the bitter and the sweet, yeah, oh yeah
(Oh, oh, oh)
As the days grow colder
Wonder if we'll ever see the sun
When winter comes, yeah
If no one stands to take the weight
If no one answers to the blame
Tell me who's gonna stop the rain?
(Oh, oh, oh)
(Oh, oh, oh)
(Oh, oh, oh)
Who's gonna stop the rain?
If every soul should lose it's way
If every face should lose it's name
If no one tries to end this game
Or find a way to ease the pain
Who's gonna stop the rain?
(Oh, oh, oh)
If no one stands to take the weight
If no one answers to the blame
Tell me who's gonna stop?
Who's gonna stop
The rain?
(Oh, oh, oh)
(Oh, oh, oh)
Who's gonna stop the ?
Love Is Alive
Love is alive
Love is alive, yeah
Love is alive
Love is alive, yeah
Yeah yeah
Whooooo
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
(Yeah)
When I think that it's time to get ready
To realize just what I have found
I have been only half of what I am
It's all clear to me know
My heart is on fire
My soul's like a wheel that's turning
My love is alive
My love is alive
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Whooooo
(Yeah)
Well there's
Something inside that's makin' me crazy
I try to keep me together
'Cause baby what I think
May not happen that way
Now I could be forever and ever
(My heart is on fire)
See my heart's on fire, baby
My soul's like a wheel that's turning
(My love is alive) so alive of you, yeah
My love is alive
(Yeah, yeah, yeah)
I can (survive)
(My love is alive)
Uh yeah, uh yeah
Uh
Feel so alive, yeah yeah
Whooooo
Yeah
There's a mirror moving me inside my mind
Reflecting the love that is shining on me
Just call out
To that feeling
Let it go, let it flow
Whoaaaaaa
(My heart is on fire)
My heart is on fire
My soul's like a wheel that's turning
My love is alive, uh yeah
My love is alive
Yeah yeah yeah
(My heart is on fire)
My heart is on fire, baby
My soul's like a wheel that's turning
My love is alive, uh yeah
My love is alive
Yeah yeah yeah
Yeah
Yeah yeah yeah
Uh
Say my love is
Alive
I Ask Of You
Whooo
Your love is like a gentle breeze upon a brand-new day
Your touch and what it does to me - like a flower needs its rain
We are like one of a kind, true love is hard to find
I can't go on another day
Just hear me when I say
I ask of you, would you love me, if nothing else went right?
And I ask of you, would you hold me, forever in your life?
And don't let me fall, 'cause I can only give my all
Here I am
I ask of you
I found the place where I belong, it's right here next to you
And nothing else matters now, with all we've been through
I can't go on, tryin' to deny just what I feel inside
But now before I let go, you gotta let me know
I ask of you, would you love me, if nothing else went right?
I ask of you, would you hold me, forever in your life?
Don't let me fall, 'cause I can only give my all
Here I am
I ask of you
Yes I do
I ask of you
Whoa
I never really thought
(I never really thought)
That you'd be all to me
(That you'd be all that really matters to me)
I'd give everything and all I am to you
Oh baby, baby, I know you feel this way too
I ask of you, would you love me, if nothing else went right?
And I ask of you, would you hold me, forever in your life?
And don't let me fall, 'cause I can only give my all
Here I am
I ask of you
Wishing Well
I wish you well
Oh
Yeah
Oh
Yeah
What do you think of me?
And who do you want me to be?
Not gonna let my history
Pull me down and hold me back, ya see
I've learned to live my life
One minute at a time
Sometimes the things you lose
Are exactly what you will find
(Dreams unfold and you cast a spell)
Everybody shines in the wishing well
Yeah yeah yeah
Close your eyes and you will see
Everybody's free in the wishing well
(Yeah yeah yeah yeah)
Wishing well
Why do you try to hide
Behind the truth that your heart denies?
The answer lies so deep inside
Baby spread your wings, it's time to fly
Gotta learn to live your life
One minute at a time
Sometimes the road you choose
Has the highest hills to climb
(Dreams unfold and you cast a spell)
Everybody shines in the wishing well
Yeah yeah yeah
Close your eyes and you will see
Everybody's free in the wishing well
(Yeah yeah yeah yeah)
(Dreams unfold and you cast a spell)
Everybody shines in the wishing well
(Yeah)
Close your eyes and you will see
Everybody's free in the wishing well
(Yeah yeah yeah yeah)
Wishing well
Oh
Yeah
Whooo
Oh
Oh wishing well
(Dreams unfold and you cast a spell)
Everybody shines in the wishing well
Yeah yeah yeah
Close your eyes and you will see
Everybody's free in the wishing well
(Yeah yeah yeah yeah)
(Dreams unfold and you cast a spell)
Everybody shines in the wishing well
Yeah
Close your eyes and you will see
Everybody's free in the wishing well
(Yeah yeah yeah yeah)
(Dreams unfold and you cast a spell)
Everybody shines in the wishing well
Yeah
Close your eyes and you will see
Everybody's free in the wishing well
(Yeah yeah yeah yeah)
Made For Lovin' You
Baby I've been waiting for some time
To find a way to free your mind, yeah
It's the simple things you do to me
That makes my heart forget to beat, yeah yeah
But I ain't here to try to play your fool, no no
I won't ever beg for you
But heaven blessed the day you find
What you've been looking for
Well, my baby you'd better know
Now I wanna take you higher
Don't keep me waiting on the outside love
Can't stop it if you wanted to
'Cause I was made for lovin you, yeah yeah
I guess I thought it was a dream
Locked up in a mystery
Can't guess on what was meant to be
My soul just keeps on telling me, yeah yeah
'Cause I can't take this for another day
I've thought of us a hundred different ways
And I'd do anything for you
'Cause you were made for lovin me
And me for lovin you.
Now I wanna take you higher
Don't keep me waiting on the outside love
Can't stop it if you wanted to
'Cause I was made for lovin you, yeah yeah
Now I wanna take you higher
Don't keep me waiting on the outside love
Can't stop it if you wanted to
'Cause I was made for lovin you, yeah
It's time that you let me know baby
I ain't going
I ain't gonna play your games
Can't face another day
There's nothing left for me to say
Oh yeah, whoa, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Now I wanna take you higher
Don't keep me waiting on the outside love
Can't stop it if you wanted to
'Cause I was made for lovin you, baby
Now I wanna take you higher
Don't keep me waiting on the outside love
Can't stop it if you wanted to
'Cause I was made for lovin you, baby
Now I wanna take you higher
Don't keep me waiting on the outside love
Can't stop it if you wanted to
'Cause I was made for lovin you
Black Roses
Whoa, hah
Yeah
Aha
Tell you a story of a love I left behind
It was a broken fairy tale
I gave up all my pride
Let love inside
But tore me all apart when you played with my heart
Let me paint a picture of a cold and rainy night
As the candles fade to black
I played our favorite song
'Til the needle was gone
I've taken all I can,
You've played your last hand
Black roses and a bottle of wine
Those were the only things that I left behind
Keep searching 'cause it's so hard to find
All you got are the tears that you cry
Black roses and wine
Oh yeah
Sorry situation when your castle's made of sand
And it washes out to sea
I pushed your love aside
Cried my last cry
My soul is in bloom
Like flowers in June
Black roses and a bottle of wine
Those were the only things that I left behind
Just keep searching 'cause it's so hard to find
All you got are the tears that you cry
Black roses and wine
Black roses and a bottle of wine
Those were the only things that I left behind
Keep searching 'cause it's so hard to find
All you got are the tears that you cry
Black roses and wine
You don't miss your water 'til your well runs dry
You don't miss your good thing, 'til it passes you by
Like a bird in the sky, spread your wings and fly
Oh yeah
Yeah yeah yeah
Black roses and a bottle of wine
Those were the only things that I left behind
C'mon keep searching 'cause it's so hard to find
All you got are the tears that you cry
Black roses and wine
Yo Trippin'
Whoa
Heya
All this time this life
Is a rhythm without a rhyme
'Cause it makes me feel, uh
I'm like a train without a wheel, whoa
You got me down, so low
I gotta be tough, won't touch the ground, ah
But - I'm alright
I won't give up without a fight
If you don't want to realize
That I would never compromise my
Integrity or my right to be free
There's nothing left for me to say
'Cause
Yo trippin'
There ain't nothing wrong
With the way I sing my song
Yo trippin'
Fire make me feel
Like my feelings stay so real
Yo trippin'
There ain't nothing wrong
With the way I sing my song
Hey, whoa
Yo trippin'
Why you feel (why you feel, why you feel)
That to be cruel
Is to be real, yeah
Honesty (honesty, yeah, honesty)
Is how I live
But you refuse to see that
You'll never wind the game of life
Ask why
You live in scene
From tellin' all those lies
Can't live in peace
Your hart wont let me free
There's nothing left for me to say, yeah
Yo trippin'
There ain't nothing wrong
With the way I sing my song
Yo trippin'
Fire make me feel
Like my feelings stay so real
Yo trippin'
There ain't nothing wrong
With the way I sing my song
Whoa
Yo trippin'
Yeha
Why you always trinppin' on me
Yo trippin'
There ain't nothing wrong
With the way I sing my song
Yo trippin'
Fire make me feel
Like my feelings stay so real
Yo trippin'
There ain't nothing wrong
With the way I sing my song
Baby why you always
Trippin baby
Yo trippin'
There ain't nothing wrong
With the way I sing my song
Yo trippin'
Fire make me feel
Like my feelings stay so real
Yo trippin'
There ain't nothing wrong
With the way I sing my song
Whoa
Yo trippin'
One More Chance
Can we talk a while?
'Cause I need you
Lord, I miss your smile
Said, I need you
I know I'm not the same, ya see
If we could only be, the way it was
Then I'd never let you go
Just one more chance
I know I was wrong
Don't give up so easily
Don't you know it's killing me?
Just one more chance, to sing this song
I'll never let you down, no
Just one more chance
I know that I hurt you
Don't you realize?
Confused, thought we were through
Can I tell you that I, I never felt like this?
This pain, I can't ignore
I want you back, and I'll never let you go
Just one more chance
I know I was wrong
Don't give up so easily
Don't you know it's killing me?
Just one more chance, to sing this song
I'll never let you down, no
Just one more chance
It's not the way we planned it
Or the way it's gonna be
Just give me half a chance to make your heart believe
'Cause I know just how you feel
I can see it in your eyes
There's nothing in this world
That can tear this love apart
Just one more chance
I know I was wrong
Don't give up so easily
Don't you know it's killing me?
Just one more chance, to sing this song
I'll never let you down, no, no, no
No no no
One more chance
Don't give up so easily
Don't you know, don't you know
It's killing me?
To sing this song
I'll never let you down
Just one more chance
One more chance
Same Old Story
Yeah
Turn around take a look at my life
I'm a lot like you are
Try to hide from yesterday
Still the pain never went away
Could it be, history
All the time just repeatin' on me?
Thought that I could break the chains,
The tears and pain, but here I go again
Over and over
On and on
Keep on singing that same old song you know
Is that the way the story goes?
(Same old story)
Hey
(Over and over)
Round and round
This world keeps turing me inside out you know
Is that the way the story goes?
(Same old story)
C'mon
Turn around take a look at your life
Thinkin that you're living right
Judging only on what you see
Just reflections of your misery
All the shame, from all the names
Build the walls when we're all the same
You think you got an alibi, but it's a lie
Don't even try
Over and over
On and on
Keep on singing that same old song you know
Is that the way the story goes?

How you're gonna survive
In these troubled times
But if you seek than you shall find

Over and over
On and on
Keep on singing that same old song you know
Is that the way the story goes?

Is that the way the story goes?
(Same old story)
Over and over

Didn't you know I'm not that kind?
(Same old story)

Is that the way the story goes?
(Same old story)

(Over and over)
Round and round
This world keeps turing me inside out you know
Is that the way the story goes?
(Same old story)
Na na na
Nothing At All
I suppose, for a man like you
To be the love of my life
That's a lot to ask
But somehow, I feel the right
So here I am, hey babe, with the tables turned
The fear of getting burned, your hand's been cold
I want everything
Or nothing at all, at all
Every, every, everything
Now what am I to do?
You made me fall for you
I want everything
Or nothing at all
I may be wrong, I've been wrong before
But I won't be a fool
Not for you this time
There's some things I'm not going through
So here I stand, hey babe, with a lot to lose
But I wanna see the truth
Through your walls
I want everything
Or nothing at all, at all
Every, every, everything
Now what am I to do?
You made me fall for you
I want everything
Or nothing at all
You told me you love me, you told me you need me
I hear all the words that you say, what you need to do
I'm tired of feeling there's nothing more to believe in
I won't wait for you to break my heart
So here I am, hey baby, with the tables turned
And the fear of getting burned
Your hand's been cold
I want everything
Or nothing at all, at all
I want everything
I want everything
Now what am I to do?
You made me fall for you
I want everything
Or nothing at all, at all
I want everything, I want everything
Now what am I to do?
You made me fall for you, you, you, you, you
Oh, nothing at all
I said nothing at all
I miss ya baby
You're my everything
I want everything
I want everything
Everything
Everything
Baptize My Soul
You baptize my soul
Want the world to know
Yes you do
You baptize my soul
Gotta let it show
Take me to the river and deliver me
Oooooh ooh
I just wanna celebrate another day with you
We were meant to be together, don't you know it's true?
From the very start, you captured my heart
Sometimes I wonder what I did before we came along
Until you came around and sang me such a pretty song
Like a butterfly, opened up and changed my life
Giving in to you is something that I can't deny
Oooooh
You (you) baptize my soul
I want the world to know
You manifest the 'D' in destiny
(Yes you do)
I said you (you) baptize my soul
Gotta let it show
Take me to the river and deliver me
Just take this empty heart, make it whole
You baptize my soul
Just the sound of your voice brings out the romance in me
The slightest touch of your hand plays me like a symphony
Love'll take us far, like a shooting star
We don't pay no mind to all the things that people say
The only thing that matters is the love we've got today
It's a miracle, we're invinsible
I just wanna spend my whole life living in your world
Oooooh
You (you) baptize my soul
I want the world to know
You manifest the 'D' in destiny
(Yes you do)
I said you (you) baptize my soul
Gotta let it show
Take me to the river and deliver me
Take this empty heart, make it whole
You baptize my soul
You (you) baptize my soul
I want the world to know
You manifest the 'D' in destiny
(Yes you do)
I said you (you) baptize my soul
Gotta let it show
Take me to the river and deliver me
And take this empty heart, make it whole
You baptize my soul
I don't care what people say
What we got is here to stay
Doesn't matter what we do
As long as I am here with you
If you wonder what I mean
It's more simple than it seems
Together we were meant to be
Forever it is you and me
Like a butterfly
Opened up my life
Giving in to you is something
That I can't deny
You (you) baptize my soul
I want the world to know
You manifest the 'D' in destiny
(Yes you do)
I said you (you) baptize my soul
Gotta let it show
Take me to the river and deliver me
And take this empty heart, make it whole
You baptize my soul
